Marywood faculty and staff celebrated for years of service
Marywood’s long serving staff and faculty were recently honored for their many years of service.
The Order Cor Mariae Pro Fide et Cultura is awarded to full-time faculty members and administrators who have completed 20 years of service. The award includes a citation and a commemorative medal.
This year’s inductees into the Order were Dr. Helen Bittel, Sr. Catherine Luxner, IHM, Dr. Lori Swanchak and Sophie Till. The ceremony was held on April 3 in the Upper Main of Nazareth Hall.
Professional staff with 20 years of service were honored with the Sister Theresa Maxis, IHM Service Award, which is given to professional personnel and hourly employees who have completed 20 cumulative full-time or regular part-time years of service to the university. This year, the ceremony was held in the Latour Room in Nazareth Hall on April 6.
Faculty members who celebrated 25 years of service included Dr. Mona Griffer and Dr. Deborah Hokien.
Staff members with 25 years of service included Albert Kwiatkowski, Helen Shibak and Dr. Sheri Ann Skrutski.
Along with medalists from 2022, those from 2020-2021 who were unable to be honored due to the COVID pandemic were honored this year as well.
These Cor Mariae medalists included Dr. Arthur Comstock, John Coval, Renee Jourdanais, Mary Margaret Mazzaccaro, Sr. Joan McCusker, IHM, Hong Miao, and Andrea Novak.
Frank Falcone, institutional data specialist, celebrated 30 years of service and Rosemary Burger from the Registrar’s office marked 35 years of service.
Burger added that for her, the ceremony made her and her peers feel appreciated for their years of service.
“I think one of the things that we as staff really appreciate about working at Marywood is the collegiality and the recognition that we get for years of service and our achievements. So the ceremony is a nice milestone for those of us who have been here for a while,” said Burger.
