A Marywood maintenance worker assaulted a Marywood security officer on Monday, Oct. 15.
According to The Scranton Times, David Thomas, a Marywood maintenance worker was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment, after he choked security officer, Sergeant James Reese.
The assault occurred in the maintenance building; however, the reason for the assault remains unknown. Reese was evaluated by medical professionals.
The university would not provide any additional information on the incident. Juneann Greco, comunications director, declined comment. Chief of Campus Safety, Mike Finegan, also declined to provide specifics, but assured that the situation is being handled by the local authorities. “The first priority of Marywood University is always the safety of their students, staff, and faculty. That’s always at the top of our agenda when any incident occurs,” Finegan said.
Efforts to reach Sergeant Reese were unsuccessful.
