Donald J. Trump is president-elect of 2016 election
November 9, 2016
Donald J. Trump has been projected as the winner of the 2016 presidential election, according to reports from CNN.
Trump’s projected win will make him the first Republican since George W. Bush to take the seat in the Oval Office.
Trump announced his candidacy for president as a Republican last year in June. He then quickly emerged as a front-runner for the party’s nomination. Earlier in July, he was formally nominated for president at the 2016 Republican National Convention after his remaining Republican rivals suspended their campaigns in May.
His campaign has received widespread media coverage and attention from world over.
Trump was born and raised in New York City, and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968.
The new president will be sworn in on January 20, 2017.
This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
