Chief of Campus Safety Mike Finegan will retire in October 2017.

Finegan, who has worked at Marywood since 2002, said candidates for his position have been interviewed by a panel.

“Hopefully, we can name somebody in the near future and then that person could, as we say, shadow me all summer so when I leave there’ll be a smooth transition for that person,” Finegan said.

According to a job posting on Marywood’s website, the position is being offered only to those already employed by the university.

Finegan reflected on his nearly 15 years at Marywood, in which he started as the assistant chief of campus safety.

“This has been great….and it’s been a very unique experience, challenging to say the least,” Finegan said.

Finegan added that he is looking to open “another chapter of [his] life.”

“I do have two young grandchildren that I’ll spend more time with, so it’s all good,” Finegan said. “It’s all positive.”
