Two administrators, one director resign positions
July 12, 2017
Chief Information Officer Tony Spinillo and Associate Vice-President for Marketing and Communication Peter Kilcullen have left Marywood, according to Marywood President Sr. Mary Persico, IHM, Ed.D.
Sr. Mary communicated the news to faculty and staff via email on June 22. The Wood Word obtained a copy of the email, which did not include the reasons for the two administrators’ departures.
In an interview with The Wood Word, Persico said Spinillo and Kilcullen both resigned for personal reasons.
Spinillo and Kilcullen could not be reached for comment.
Additionally, Director of Alumni Engagement Ann Williams said she officially resigned on June 7, but declined further comment. Persico said there will be an intercollegiate search for a candidate to fill her position.
According to the June 22 email, Marywood will conduct a national search to find a Director of IT and a Director of Marketing and Communication.
“Search committees will be formed to work with the search firm, and members of the campus community will have opportunities to meet the candidates for each of these positions and provide comments to the firm regarding their competencies,” said Persico in the email.
Persico said the names of these two positions changed to comply with a recommendation made during the Strategic Resource Allocation (SRA) process.
“One of the things that the people who did the SRA report told us over and over again was that we seem pretty top-heavy when it comes to administrators,” Persico said in an interview.
She added that the salaries of the new Director of IT and Director of Marketing and Communication will not be “terribly less” than the salaries of the former Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice-President of Marketing and Communication.
According to Persico, the administration changed these position titles after Spinillo and Kilcullen resigned from Marywood.
“They resigned first and then we took that opportunity to change the position to a director position,” she said.
Persico concluded the email by thanking Spinillo and Kilcullen for their years of service and wishing them “much happiness in the years to come.”
The Marywood administration hopes to fill the vacant positions in IT and Marketing and Communication by early November, according to Persico. There is no set timeline to find a new director of alumni engagement, but Persico said “the sooner, the better.”
