NEWS BRIEF: Armed student preliminary hearing postponed

The preliminary hearing for Alex Barowski, the student arrested last week for having a weapon on campus, has been postponed.

The hearing was originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today in the Lackawanna County Courthouse.

According to the Central Court Administrator’s office, the hearing has been postponed at the request of his attorney, Patrick Anthony Kane III, Esq.

Barowski is facing charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment, making terroristic threats and possessing unlawful body armor, according to his public court summary.

According to Barowski’s public criminal docket, he was unable to post bail which is set at $500,000.

The preliminary hearing is now scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. in the Lackawanna County Courthouse.
