Marywood’s Global Unity Club is celebrating March as Women’s History Month with a new exhibit.
The club will host “Women in Power Throughout History” in the Kresge Gallery of the Shields Center for Visual Arts beginning Monday, March 5. It will remain on display until Friday, March 9.
On Thursday, March 8, work in the exhibit will be on sale in a reception from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Global Unity Club is accepting various forms of artwork like digital photography, one-page pieces of writing, sculptures and paintings that honor inspirational and powerful women.
Submissions are due in the International Affairs office by Sunday, March 4 and must be framed and ready for display.
Lia Richards-Palmiter, director of diversity efforts, said the club wanted to do something different for Women’s History Month.
“[It’s] to lend our voices to the other social movements across the country, highlighting the power in the presence of women,” she said. “We have so many around this campus. We have tons and tons and it’s our little way of doing that.“
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Richards-Palmiter at [email protected] or visit the event’s Facebook page.
