According to unofficial results from the Associated Press, Republican candidate Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election with 279 electoral votes and 51% of the popular vote.
Pennsylvania, a battleground state during the election, was flipping between Trump and Harris throughout the night. It was seen as the deciding factor between the two candidates. However, early Wednesday morning, Trump won Pennsylvania with 51% of the votes.
Trump’s presidency will focus on restructuring the education system, cutting taxes on social security income and replacing the Affordable Care Act, according to his campaign.
The Senate also flipped into the Republican majority when previous West Virginia Governor Jim Justice flipped the seat held by a retiring Sen. Joe Manchin.
On a state level, the race between Republican Dave McCormick and Democratic incumbent Bob Casey was close. The race has still not been called and is within a 1% difference.
The 8th Congressional District’s election showed Republican candidate Robert Bresnahan winning the seat previously held by incumbent Democratic candidate Matt Cartwright with 51% of the votes.
According to Bresnahan’s campaign website, he is focused on protecting social security and cutting taxes for middle-class families.
