Marywood Athletics will hold its first ever “Student Athlete Preview Day” on Sept. 23.

The event, similar to an open house, will welcome only prospective Marywood students considering playing for an athletics team, according to Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation Eric Grundman.

Prospective students will have the opportunity to come to Marywood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet with coaches and current student athletes of their desired teams and tour the campus.

Representatives from admissions, financial aid and academic departments will also give presentations. According to Grundman, all athletic teams will participate in the open house.

“I believe we have a men’s soccer game, a women’s soccer game, a field hockey game,” Grundman said. “And it’s also Family Weekend. So it’s going to be an active weekend where prospective student athletes can see a lot and see a campus that’s very much alive.”

Dr. Mary Jo Gunning, director of athletics and recreation, shared her excitement about the first ever Student Athlete Preview Day.

“My expectation is that it will be successful and that we will definitely have it each year,” said Gunning. “I believe that this will be a true gem for us in our recruitment effort.”
