Despite the rainy weather, the Pacers were still in action this week.
Softball
On March 27, the softball team had a doubleheader against the Wilkes University Colonels. Neither side could get the offense going for the first two and a half innings. The Colonels would earn the first run in the third inning off an RBI double. After that, Wilkes found its groove and continued to score. The Pacers fell 5-0 in game one.
In game two, the Pacers would score in the top of the first from a Marley Sarafinko ground out that brought Kat Davis home. Marywood’s lead was short lived because the Colonels put up two runs of its own in the bottom of the first. The Pacers struck again in the fifth and would score two runs. Marywood collapsed in the bottom of the fifth as Wilkes had six runners make it home. The Colonels picked up a huge win, 12-4.
Baseball
The baseball team had a doubleheader of its own on Thursday as it squared off against the Neumann University Knights. Marywood had an explosive first inning with five runs coming around to score. This was the most the Pacers had scored to start out a game all year. The Knights got on the board in the top of the fifth from an RBI single. In the sixth, Max Slusser doubled to left center and extended the Pacers lead by two. Marywood was victorious in game one.
To start out game two, Joel Ayers singled to right field to bring Christian Michak home. The Knights tied it back up in the second inning from a sacrifice fly by Thomas Elgrim. Marywood would regain the lead and Ayers singled again to add another run. Neumann would make it a one run game in the sixth but was unable to catch up with the Pacers. Marywood snuck out another win, 3-2.
Men’s Golf
This past Monday, the golf team drove to Willingboro, New Jersey to play at the Rancocas Golf Club. The Pacers placed second overall against nine other schools. The team score was 333 and the best score was from Penn State-Abington with 331. Zachary Valeski placed third scoring a 79 on a par 71. The team’s next event will be on April 9, as it takes part in a tri-match with Wilkes and the University of Scranton.
Men’s Lacrosse
Two days ago, Marywood hosted the Penn College Wildcats. Aiden Kilkenny scored the first goal for the Pacers four minutes into the game. Minutes later, the WIldcats responded with three straight goals of its own. Marywood continued to fight back as Jake Plokhoy found the net in the start of the second quarter. In the third quarter, both Polkhoy and John Scibello scored for the Pacers. Penn would go on 5-0 scoring run to close out the game and pick up the 10-4 victory.
