Men’s Soccer
On Oct. 28 two Marywood Pacers received Atlantic East Conference awards. Danny Gomez was named Player of the Week and Niko Leibkuchler was picked to the Weekly Honor Roll. On Oct. 30 Marywood University fell to Immaculata University with a 2-1 loss. The Pacers now fall to the No. 4 seed.The team hosted the first round of the AEC playoffs on Nov. 2. The Pacers beat the No. 5 seed Centenary in a game that ended in a penalty shootout. Many Marywood opportunities came up short in the first half, as the clubs took a 0-0 draw into the half. Leibkuchler made the save in the eighth round of penalties, as the team stormed the field to surround him. Marywood will advance to the semifinals and take on Marymount on Wednesday.
Women’s Soccer
Marywood University graduate student Josephine Sorce and junior Carly Walters swept the Atlantic East Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. On Oct. 31, Marywood University defeated Immaculata University with an outstanding victory of 8-0. The Pacers captured their fifth consecutive No. 1 seed in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs. Sorce finished with a goal and three assists. Riley Mulherin, Maura Kirkpatrick and Walters each scored twice.
Women’s Field Hockey
The Atlantic East Conference named junior forward Dariane Jones Player of the Week, and Corrin Hasty was selected Defensive Player of the Week. On Nov. 2 Marywood University destroyed Manhattanville University with a 11-1 victory, taking them to the Atlantic East Conference championship. The Pacers improved to 13-6 on the year. Cydney Lahr had seven points on three goals and a helper for the Pacers. Lany Straub added a hat trick of her own and Maria Tomada had two goals and an assist for five points. The Pacers will face Immaculata University in the championship.
Men’s Cross Country
Marywood University won its sixth consecutive Atlantic East Conference men’s cross country championship Saturday at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome. The Pacers have won seven consecutive conference titles. Marywood finished with a perfect score of 15 points to win the championship. The Pacers captured the top eight individual performances. Marywood was responsible for 12 of the 14 All-Conference nods. Jack Baronski claimed his second consecutive individual Atlantic East championship. He completed the 8K course in a time of 27:37.76.
Women’s Cross County
The Pacers finished with 56 points and an average 6K time of 27:36. Marywood lost the tiebreaker with Immaculata University. Paige Redman finished in fourth overall with a 26-minute flat time. The Pacers will compete next at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships in Lock Haven.
Swimming and Diving
The Marywood University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were swept by both Hartwick College and Ramapo College this weekend at the Hartwick College Tri-meet. Molly Englehardt finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:54.47. Patrick Marbaker secured two second-place spots for the men in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
