Nick Ferraro, a class of 2023 graduate, has been wrestling for a long time. From backyard matches to officially beginning his journey to traveling across America in hopes of becoming a professional wrestler in 2019, he’s returning home with his new wrestling company Seek Pro Wrestling.
Ferraro created Seek Pro Wrestling for many reasons but mainly for his “love of the game,” both in the ring and outside.
“I created Seek Pro Wrestling because I have a deep love for the operating and promoting aspect of wrestling,” he said. “So, my job is to make sure people buy tickets and everything goes through me whether it’s production, the matches, the talent.”
He has had prior experience promoting backyard matches in high school and fell in love with it. Now he wants to expand into the professional wrestling scene with the skills he has gained from in the ring and through his education.
As an alumnus of Marywood, Ferraro credits his education with teaching him promotion and marketing skills, which he has carried throughout different jobs and into this next adventure.
“Marywood really helped me in the promotional aspect, the marketing aspect. All my video editing came from Marywood, my graphic design started at Marywood so all this stuff launched me into a place that I didn’t know I needed it for,” he said. “I used all those tools that I did learn there and put them to marketing jobs I had in Buffalo, and I took those skills that I’ve built on and put them into this. ”
The wrestlers on the card are from all over the East Coast, from Buffalo, New York, to North Carolina. Ferraro sees this as a celebration of his wrestling journey, from training to competing against most of the contenders on the card. He also sees this as an opportunity to celebrate his hometown.
“It’s because I love it here. I love Northeastern Pennsylvania, born and raised. There are two wrestling promotions here but I knew there was a chance to have another with a market that’s been untapped,” he said. “In Buffalo, there are quite a few and in North Carolina, there are more than a few, but in this little pocket, there’s not a lot so I wanted to bring it home.”
For the future, Ferraro hopes they can run quarterly events in each season and to branch out to other venues across the region.
Their first event is on Jan. 25 at Holy Cross High School in Dunmore. The doors open at 6 p.m. with bell time starting at 7 p.m. For more information and to buy tickets, visit Seek Pro Wrestling’s Instagram Page.
