After the loss on Alumni Day, Marywood traveled to Gwynedd Mercy University to finish the season series against the Griffins. Thanks to a Brandon Reed three, Marywood took the lead, holding it for the better part of the first half, grasping onto a one-point advantage at the half. The second half started with the Pacers scorching, nailing four of their first five shot attempts. The offensive onslaught continued, as Marywood’s lead would balloon to as many as 11, with under 14 minutes of regulation left. However, Gwynedd Mercy would only need about three of those minutes, going on a 12-1 run, knotting the game at 50, and claiming a narrow lead shortly after. A Cole Johnson three-pointer would steal back the lead, though only for a moment, as the Griffins would swipe it back and not lose control of it, sweeping the season series, 77-68.
Looking to avoid a losing streak, Marywood traveled to Pratt Institute. Fresh off their first win of the season, the Cannoneers started the afternoon on a 14-0 run in the first three minutes. This would be foreshadowing for the rest of the game, as Pratt would put Marywood on their heels, taking a 20-point lead into halftime. The Pacers scored effectively in the second half, but the lack of defense would be their downfall, as Marywood would be the second team to fall to Pratt, 96-81.
Women’s Basketball
Entering the week, senior forward Stephanie Klemick would be honored as the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
With a lengthy break set for the other side of their midweek matchup, Marywood hosted the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University. The Pacers were exceptional, shooting well above 50% from the field in the first half, draining eight three-pointers and taking a 20-point lead into the break. The second half was more of the same, with career performances being topped off by two Pacers. Klemick made her case for AEC DPOTW again, coming away with a career high five steals and nine assists, while also swatting three shots and pulling in six rebounds. With Klemick, fellow senior Olivia Ciullo drilled 12 of her 16 shot attempts, finishing the night with a career high 30 points, as Marywood created space for the final playoff push, 77-55.
