Baseball
Entering the season picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic East Conference, Marywood began their season on the road, set for a doubleheader against Rosemont College. It didn’t take long for the Pacer offense to come alive, as sophomore first baseman Tristian Gatchalain popped a three-run homer in his first at bat of the season, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Marywood would add one more in the first inning, before replicating it in the second, with three runs scoring from a bases-clearing double from Max Slusser. The Pacers scored three more in the third and fourth innings, before the final run in the sixth, as Marywood picked up a dominating win, 15-1.
Game two didn’t start quite the same as Rosemont would score first. In his first Marywood at bat, sophomore outfielder Ethan Reccek would rope a double, leveling the score. The second inning saw the Ravens score four runs, forcing the Pacers to come from behind. Gatchalain would strike again, launching his second home run in as many games in the fourth, before driving in the first two runs of a five-run fifth inning. Junior infielder Adam Ginsburg added one more in the top of the sixth and with daylight running out, the bottom half would be the final chance for the Ravens. Charlie Hamm would punch the first two hitters out, but would drill a batter and issue a walk, bringing the game tying run to the plate. Fortunately for Marywood, Hamm would leave the runs stranded, striking out the final batter and earning his first collegiate save, as the Pacers would sweep the day, 8-5.

After dropping the season opener, Marywood hosted Misericordia University, looking to snap a four-game losing streak against the Cougars. The Pacers and Cougars matched each other’s goals in the first quarter, with Kaitlyn Smith and Jessica Banta being responsible for the two for Marywood. Avery Meighan scored twice for Marywood, with Smith adding another, as the Pacers held a 6-3 lead at halftime. Alli Duncan was responsible for both of the Pacers goals in the third quarter, before Smith and Meighan would ice the game with the first two goals in the quarter, followed by Natalie Yilanjian and Kortney Harry adding to the lead, as Marywood trampled the Cougars, 12-5.
Back on the road, the Warriors of Lycoming College welcomed Marywood. Marywood issued five goals in the first, with the two to end the scoring against Misericordia scoring for the Pacers: Harry and Yilanjian. The Pacers would draw within one with five minutes left in the second quarter, before the Warriors would drill three goals before the break. Lycoming would rattle off four straight goals on the other side of halftime, though Marywood would close the gap to six by the end of the third quarter. The Pacers would continue to score, netting five goals, but the deficit was too much, as Marywood fell 16-13.
