Women’s Lacrosse
On March 17, Marywood University hosted and dominated Wilkes University, 22-2. Scoring four goals and four assists for the Pacers was junior midfielder Avery Meighan. Kaitlyn Smith also had her fair share, scoring four goals, adding an assist for five points. Freshman Carly Lynch scored her first career hat trick against the Colonels. On the defensive end, Lana Sorg collected five ground balls and Tori Wilson made one save.
Men’s Lacrosse
On the road, the Pacers matched up against Penn College on March 19. The Wildcats rushed to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter, setting the tone for the game, as they’d win 14-5. John Scibello led Marywood offensively with two goals and an assist for the three points.
On March 22, the Pacers hosted Delaware Valley. Defeating the Aggies 12-4, Shaun Howey set a career-high with three goals and an assist for four points. Scibello picked up seven ground balls and scored three goals and an assist for four points. Defensively, Dalton Gerver produced six ground balls. Marywood outshot the Aggies by a 53-16 margin. Marywood Had a 55-23 advantage in ground balls.
Softball
Sophomore pitcher Grace Lorah was named Atlantic East Pitcher of the Week. Throwing 4 ½ scoreless innings with a save during Marywood’s Spring Break trip, and striking out seven batters in the 3.2 innings to earn the save in Marywood’s 14-8 win over New England.
On March 18, the Pacers hosted Penn State Schuylkill. The Pacers would go on to split the set with the Nittany Lions, dropping a close game one, 2-1, before dominating in game two, 10-0. In game one, the first inning was quiet for both teams. The Nittany Lions got on the board first, posting their only two runs of the game in the top of the second inning. For the Pacers Tori Para doubled home Kat Davis.
In game two of the day the Pacers made a major comeback. After holding the Nittany Lions scoreless in the top half of the first, Marywood grabbed an early lead. The first Pacer run crossed as Voyer doubled down and left field line to drive in Davis. Sophomore Lianna Horner followed that up by drawing a walk with the bases loaded, forcing home the second Marywood run to make it, 2-0. The Pacers were far from done, as the bottom of the second saw a three-run blast off the bat of Para to extend the lead to 5-0. Marley Sarafinko made it 6-0 by Voyer’s single. Moments later Riley Marshall tripled to right center. Para, Voyer and Davis all scored on the gapper, extending the lead to 9-0. Freshman Marrissa Hoffman added another on, singling up the middle to bring the final Pacer run. Marywood would keep the Nittany Lions scoreless for the next two innings, forcing a run-rule after five innings.
Baseball
Marywood University’s Tristan Gatachalain and Owen Reilly were selected to the Atlantic East Conference weekly honor roll. Gatchalain batted .423 with six runs and seven RBIs during the Pacers’ Florida trip. In seven games, Gatchalain went 11 for 26 with two doubles, two triples and a 1.170 OPS. Reilly had a 1.23 ERA in four relief appearances during the Pacers’ seven games in Florida. In 7 ⅓ innings, Reilly allowed just a .167 opponents batting average to earn a 1-1 record with one save.
In Oneonta, New York, the Pacers came up short 4-3 to SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday. The Pacers came back from a four-run deficit but were unable to put the tying run across the plate. Joel Ayers had both of Marywood RBI’s. Ayers finished 2 for 5 with two RBI’s. Christian Michak had two runs. Marywood had the tying run on base in the ninth. Trailing 4-2, Michak hit a two-out double to right center. Ayers drove in the run with an RBI single to left field. The Pacers were forced into a fielder’s choice to finish the game.
Returning home victors, the Pacers were set for a doubleheader against St. Elizabeth College. Despite a six-run output in the first two innings, Marywood fell short, 7-6. In game two, the bats came alive, scoring nine of their 11 runs between the fourth and sixth innings, shutting out the Eagles, 11-0.
Women’s Tennis
The Pacers opened its Atlantic East Conference schedule with a 5-2 win over Immaculata University on Saturday. The Pacers win for the second straight time over the Mighty Macs. Kylie Kilogore picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win in second singles, while Alex Vitale secured a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the fourth singles flight. Marywood captured wins in the fifth and sixth singles matches. Marywood takes on Marymount on Saturday, April 5.
Men’s Tennis
The Pacers on the road face Immaculata on Saturday, March 22. The Pacers won their first Atlantic East Conference match since April 2023. The Pacers earned their second consecutive win with a 5-2 decision over Immaculata University. Fred Kloss won the fourth singles by scores of 6-3, 6-1. Leonardo Guzman continued his run with a 6-2, 6-1 win in fifth singles. In doubles play, Marywood swept all three flights. Marywood looks to make it three straight wins on Saturday, April 5 against Marymount University.
