Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso – World Heavyweight Championship
Felix: Jey Uso
A decade ago, nobody would have thought Jey Uso would be challenging for the world heavyweight championship at Wrestlemania. Now imagine telling that person Uso would eliminate John Cena to win the Royal Rumble to get this chance. It is a fantastic and wonderfully built story. Uso has come a long way and he will capitalize on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Bernie: Jey Uso
Just like Straton vs. Flair, I desperately hope the champion will retain in this one. Gunther is one of the best wrestlers on the roster and churns out amazing matches every time he steps in the ring so his reign shouldn’t be ended by a mid-carder who isn’t ready to hold the top belt. It’s weird to say because Jey debuted 15 years ago, but he’s not developed enough to be the top singles champion. Regardless, it looks like Las Vegas will be YEETing all night long.
Vincent: Jey Uso
After winning the Royal Rumble to everyone’s surprise, Jey Uso selected Gunther as his opponent after consecutive beatdowns. Since then, the build up slowed significantly in the following weeks, before Monday Night Raw on March 31, where Gunther would brutalize Uso’s brother, Jimmy, with Jey strapped to the ropes. The intensity of the feud has been rekindled and after Uso’s message to Gunther the following week, there really isn’t a scenario where Uso doesn’t hoist the title.
Ben: Gunther
Gunther has been one of WWE’s top stars since he joined the main roster with Imperium in 2023. I see no reason why they would have him drop the title to “Main Event” Jey Uso, who’s been more of a mid-carder and defeated John Cena at the Royal Rumble, which sent Cena down a road of madness. Jey was able to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship despite never beating Gunther in any match before, tag or single, and yet somehow he’s going to beat Gunther at Mania. Since Triple H took over ,he has shown that the Rumble winner will lose if they think it will be better for the story and I believe Gunther will retain, with Jey going back to tag team action.
Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano
Felix: Rey Mysterio
Mysterio and Americano will finally settle their rivalry at Wrestlemania. The two have been going back and forth for a while with Americano disrespecting Mysterio and Lucha Libre. It would be amazing to see Gable finally get his much needed push but this match has Mysterio winning all over it. This will probably end the LWO and American Made feud with both groups going in separate ways.
Bernie: El Grande Americano
It’s amazing to see how much progress El Grande Americano has made in his short time with WWE. He was unknown a few weeks ago, but will compete in his first WrestleMania match on Saturday. His momentum will help him defeat Rey Mysterio to definitively end the feud between the LWO and American Made. However, this doesn’t overshadow the fact that Chad Gable was left off the biggest show of the year for a rookie. A very strange decision.
Vincent: Rey Mysterio
After months of disrespect to the art of Lucha Libre, the most famous luchador, Rey Mysterio, will do battle with WWE’s newest masked man, El Grande Americano. Though many speculate that it is Chad Gable under the mask, it is yet to be confirmed. Mysterio will finish the match with the 619 and have the opportunity to unmask Americano, but will resist the temptation, as to not disrespect the art.
Ben: Rey Mysterio
El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) has been disrespecting Mysterio and Lucha Libre. Although I would like Gable to win and get a push that I think he deserves, I believe that Mysterio defeats El Grande Americano with help from Carlito and will join Judgment Day as their newest member.
Jade Cargill vs. Naomi
Felix: Jade Cargill
Cargill is looking for revenge after Naomi unexpectedly attacked her and put her out of action. This cost her the tag titles so it hurts ten times more. Naomi has been a tremendous heel and amazing in this feud. Although Cargill is fired up and ready to get vengeance, Naomi has been on a roll and wins one over Cargill.
Bernie: Naomi
On paper, Jade Cargill should win this match in under a minute. She’s one of the most powerful women in the division and has improved her ring work since debuting. However, Naomi hasn’t won much since she returned to WWE. She was the Women’s Tag Team Champions but a veteran like her should’ve won singles gold by now. To get into that position, she’ll pull off the upset victory over Cargill.
Vincent: Jade Cargill
After being ambushed and put out of action for months, Jade Cargill returned and battered Naomi at Elimination Chamber, revealing that she was the one who attacked Cargill. The revelation led to Naomi’s heel turn, a role she hasn’t been in most of her career, though she’s been fitting the character perfectly. However, Cargill was a huge addition to the roster previously and there’s no better way to have Cargill get a singles push than a WrestleMania victory.
Ben: Jade Cargill Naomi has done a great job playing the role of the heel, and Cargill has become an even bigger deal because of Naomi. Naomi deserves another title run at some point in her career. With all that said, Cargill has been built as a star and will get her revenge on Naomi for injuring her and will carry her strong momentum as the next unstoppable force in WWE.
The War Raiders (c) vs. The New Day – World Tag Team Championships
Felix: New Day
The War Raiders are set to battle The New Day in an epic tag team match. The New Day is used to the big stage and always delivered. Although The War Raiders have had a good title reign, we will see new tag team champions at the end of the night.
Bernie: The New Day
The New Day’s recent heel turn has remotivated Woods and Kingston, turning the clock back to 2015 and giving them much needed life. It would be a missed opportunity for them if they didn’t pick up the win over the War Raiders. With the championship acquired, perhaps we’ll see the return of Big E in the near future.
Vincent: The New Day
The “new” New Day has been one that has revitalized a legendary tag team that seemed to be in the twilight of their career. With hatred towards Big E and the WWE Universe, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will cheat and fight dirty, exploiting Ivar’s surgically repaired spine, a similar injury that sidelined Big E, to win the Tag Team titles once again.
Ben: The New Day The New Day will formally submit their legacy as one of the greatest Tag teams in wrestling history by defeating the War Raiders and will become the new World Tag Team Champions. Since becoming heels and kicking Big E out of the group, The “New” New Day have been a breath of fresh air for the Tag team division and will count to lead the way for the future as Champions, until the Motor City Machine Guns defeat them on a random SmackDown in June.
LA Knight (c) vs. Jacob Fatu – United States Championship
Felix: Jacob Fatu
Knight regained the title just one month ago but now he faces his toughest task in either championship reign. Fatu is going to be a star in the WWE. There is no better place for his big step to happen than winning the United States Championship at The Show of Shows. Fatu has a history of big title regions as he was MLW world heavyweight champion for over 800 days. Knight is a great competitor but it is Fatu’s night.
Bernie: Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu has been on a rampage since he burst onto the main roster last year and it’s about time he got a title match. LA Knight won the U.S. Championship back from Shinsuke Nakamura a few weeks ago and now he faces his biggest threat yet. Fatu has what it takes to bring some gold back to the Bloodline.
Vincent: LA Knight
Though LA Knight’s US title reign hasn’t been otherworldly, this won’t be the spot where he drops the belt. The recent Bloodline friction between Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa will lead to a misstep by Sikoa costing Fatu, which will set up a future feud between the two.
Ben: LA KnightThe Knights’ title reign has been nothing special, which is OK; not every title reign needs to be history-making. Knight will be going up against Bloodline member Jacob Fatu, who’s being built as the next leader for the Bloodline and as a future WWE Champion. With tension between Fatu and Solo, I think WWE won’t want to change the focus on their feud to a Fatu title reign, which is ultimately why I think LA Knight will retain.
Tiffany Straton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Championship
Felix: Charlotte Flair
Straton has been on fire since she cashed her money in the bank briefcase a few months ago. Capturing the women title and going on a tear ever since. Now Flair stands in her path at The Grandest Stage of Them All. Flair definitely has the experience in this match as she has a 4-3 record at Wrestlemania. Straton has been a great champion but her time is fading away. The Queen will rise again and become a 15-time women’s champion.
Bernie: Charlotte Flair
We find ourselves in the Charlotte Flair cycle once again where she loses her championship, takes months off and comes back to win another title. I feel bad for Straton because she’s been putting in amazing work for someone so young, but it appears that Flair will put an end to champion’s first reign to pick up her 15th. As much as I hate to admit it, Tiffy Time will be cut short by The Queen.
Vincent: Tiffany Straton
Charlotte Flair is undeniable, much like her father was. After being away from the ring for over a year, she returned at the Royal Rumble, winning the match and punching her ticket to Las Vegas. Taking the “easier” of the two opponents, Straton has proved that she is an ultra talented superstar and that the disrespect Flair has been giving out will be all for naught.
Ben: Charlotte Flair
Since cashing in her money in the bank briefcase, Tiffany has taken the WWE by storm. Becoming a fan favorite, unfortunately, she will have to go up with one of the most overrated wrestlers we’ve seen. Don’t get me wrong, Flair gives us some historical moments and has been one of the women who have changed women’s wrestling in WWE for the better. However, she’s since become for the women’s division what Brock Lesnar was for the men’s: goes away for a year and comes back for a title shot, and this year is no different. The Queen will defeat Tiffany for her record 15th world championship.
Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins
Felix: Seth Rollins
What a main event for night one. Three of the best in the business in the squared circle. Everyone in this match has a deep history with one another. Rollins and Punk had their rivalry going since Punk returned to the company. Reigns and Rollins have been going at it since their days in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Paul Heyman will be there as he is accompanying Punk to the ring. This will be Punk’s first time headlining WrestleMania and would be his first win since 2012 at the event. However, Punk will not have his arm raised at the end of the match, Rollins will.
Bernie: CM Punk
This was the hardest match to choose a winner for since all three superstars could realistically walk out with the victory. Each man carries so much starpower that they might steal the show and with the addition of Paul Heyman, there’s even more excitement afoot. Not only does his presence throw a giant wrench into how the bout will play out, but who he aligns with will reshape the main event scene for years to come. I think Punk will win, only to find out that Heyman was working with Rollins all along.
Vincent:
In a dream match for the ages, with all sorts of storylines intertwined from a decade to weeks ago. The favor of Punk’s, to have his former manager and current special counsel to Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, in his corner. The everlasting storyline of Reigns’ and Rollins’ past in the S.H.I.E.L.D. The pure hatred between Punk and Rollins. With so much going on, Rollins will find a way to get the upper hand and it will be revealed that his favor will be Paul Heyman joining Rollins as his new right-hand man.
Ben: CM Punk
The Main event for Night One sees three of the biggest stars wrestling has had for over 20 years. CM Punk finally gets his main event at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns is looking to count on his dominance, but a lack of faith in his wise man, Paul Heyman, has made him question his loyalty to him. Finally, Seth Rollins is looking to put the spotlight back on him after a year of being Roman Reigns’ shadow. Paul Heyman’s involvement in this match could decide who comes out as the winner. I believe Punk will ask Heymans for his favor, which will lead to Punk winning. But after that we’ll see Heyman turn on Punk and side with Rollins, with Rollins taking a steel chair to Reigns and Punk’s back gift to him by Heyman.
