Women’s Lacrosse
With consecutive 20-plus goal victories, the Pacers were on the road against the Griffins. Marywood needed just over two and a half minutes to get the scoring started, thanks to junior Natalie Yilanjian. After three straight Griffins goals, Yilanjian did it herself, matching the game to three each with an early hat trick. After Gwynedd Mercy would strike to take the lead, the Pacers top duo of Kaitlyn Smith and Avery Meighan would join in, combining for the next three goals. The Griffins would reclaim the lead midway through the second period, ahead 7-6. This is where the Marywood offense would erupt, scoring nine goals in a row from five different goal scorers. Though Gwynedd would try to make a comeback, the deficit was too wide as the Pacers clinched another high-scoring victory, 20-9.
Men’s Lacrosse
Needing to bounce back from a tough loss at Immaculata University, Marywood hosted the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins. After issuing an early goal, Marywood would net six unanswered goals across the remainder of the first and second quarter. Five Pacers produced goals, with senior Dillon Kane as the only one to strike twice, as Marywood entered halftime up 6-1. Despite efforts to mount a comeback, the Griffins were matched by Marywood, as the Pacers would move to 2-2 in AEC play, 10-5.
Softball
Days after keeping Neumann scoreless across both games, the Pacers welcomed Centenary University to Scranton. After two and a half scoreless frames, Marywood broke the stalemate off the bats of Riley Knott and Renee McDonald, who would bring two runs across. A lull in offense would return until the sixth, where the Cyclones would break the Pacers scoreless streak at 19.1 innings, making it a one-run game. However, the Marywood bats struck at the right time, scoring six runs to answer in the bottom of the innings, with Marissa Hoffman, Knott and Riley Marshall all drilling RBI extra base hits, helping clinch the game one win 8-1.
Unlike game one, Marywood wouldn’t wait until later to start scoring, as the Pacers would bring across four runs in the first, followed by a six-run second inning, which saw six different Pacers drive home runs. With Grace Lorah being masterful on the mound, Marywood would add three more in the fourth, before mercy ruling the Cyclones 13-0 after five innings.
Baseball
With weather forcing a delay in the series, Marywood hosted Immaculata for the finale of their AEC series. The Pacers manufactured the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. Immaculata would answer in the third, bringing three runs across. Marywood would cut the deficit in half, notching a run on a passed ball. The top of the fifth is where the game would turn on its head, as 16 Mighty Macs would come to the plate, resulting in nine runs. Both teams would score one more each, before the margin in the seventh inning would force a mercy rule loss on the Pacers, 13-3.
With no time to sulk over the loss, Marywood hit the road to face Manhattanville University. The first two innings showed early signs of another blowout loss, as the Valiants would score five across the two frames. The Pacers would score three runs in the third, before knotting the game at five in the fourth. Evan Bruder, Adam Ginsburg and Joel Ayers would come across the plate in the sixth to break the deadlock. Ayers and AJ Giannetti would drive in another run each in the seventh, securing a wide enough margin to clinch the win, 12-6.
In a crosstown showdown, Marywood welcomed the Royals of the University of Scranton. Both teams scored once in the first, before Ayers, Giannetti and Tanner Vicendese would drive in runs on the third. The sparks flew in the fourth, as Christian Michak whacked a lead-off home run, followed by back-to-back doubles from Bruder and a returning Tristian Gatchalian, who would later come around to score. The Royals would bring one home in the sixth, before putting up a four-run eighth to tighten the game. In the bottom of the eighth, Jonathan Schmidt smacked an RBI double to extend the lead and secure the win, 9-6.
Women’s Tennis
Jockeying for position in the AEC, Marywood faced Neumann University. The Pacers swept the Knights in the doubles matches, before they’d dominate in singles competition. Dominating singles wins from Kylie Kilgore and Avianna Santarelli headlined the polarizing win for the Pacers, 6-1.
With the top spot in the AEC on the line, the Pratt Institute Cannoneers made the trip to NEPA. The Pacers were bested in doubles, only able to grab one of the three matches, losing the point. A gritty third set victory from Alex Vitale and another dominant win from Santarelli were the only two wins Marywood would capture, as they lost their first conference match, 5-2.
Men’s Tennis
In the same situation as their female counterparts, Marywood was pitted against the Neumann Knights. Doubles play wasn’t friendly to the Pacers, with the closest match being 6-2. Singles competition was much better, with junior Matthew Wygonik being the lone Pacer to win by themselves, as Marywood fell 6-1.
With a win, Marywood could’ve hopped over Pratt in the AEC standings. However, this wouldn’t be the outcome, as they dropped all three doubles matches 6-1, before being swept in singles play, dropping their final regular season match, 7-0.
Men’s Golf
In a quad-match between Marywood University, Misericordia University, King’s College and Marymount University, the Pacers finished in the cellar, shooting 71 over par. Despite the last place finish, a Pacer ended on the podium, with Baden Hancock finishing tied for second, shooting five over par.
