The registration nights at Marywood are always chaotic, because everyone in their designated times are trying to get into their classes for the next semester. Evidently the site crashes as a result of this. Site crashing isn’t the only concern when registering for classes.
A few years ago, Marywood started having us sign Student Financial Agreements, which basically hold us responsible for paying back loans we borrowed or if we have to pay for the next semester making sure we pay. I forgot to sign mine and was barred from registering at the time.
Fortunately, I was able to get into my classes but other students might not be. Luckily, this issue was resolved because when you log on to the portal you are constantly reminded to sign the Student Financial Agreement.
I was barred again from registering at my designated time because I forgot to confirm that my information on the portal was accurate. I even got a warning saying that Marywood You Portal couldn’t determine my registration.
It took forever to sign in because I was confirming my information was up to date and it took a while to load because a lot of other students were on the site trying to register. Again, I was able to get into my classes but it was stressful and could bar students from getting into desired classes during that day.
There should be a similar reminder to update/confirm your information frequently because if you don’t you are barred from registration until you confirm/update it.
This issue was one a few peers experienced and I’m sure other students on campus ran into this problem. When I tried to register for a needed class this semester it was restricted so I had to sign a certain form to get in.
I had no idea why it was restricted because it was the right year to take it. This wasn’t anyone’s fault because no one anticipated issues and it worked out in the end.
But to prevent any stress on students’ and professors’ ends, they should get information about their courses being restricted so they can reach out to their students who need to take the course. The students wouldn’t be stressed and might be able to sign up sooner so they know that class is taken care of.
The day after the registration periods can be rough if students have a morning class. To prevent sleep deprivation students shouldn’t have to attend their morning classes the day of registration.
As a solution, professors can post in advance what they did in class and what they want done for the next class period.
