Vincent:
The Night Before: The movie’s overall production does not rival some of the other festive films to watch this time of year, but the time in which it came on my screen for the first time made this movie stick with me. As the youngest cousin on one of the sides of the family, let’s just say I was “the problem child,” and always took things too far, which is what happens in this movie. Following a group of three friends, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogan and Anthony Mackie, the trio made a pact to always spend Christmas Eve together, but with each of their lives getting busier, they make this year the final year of the pact. With plans to go out with a bang, everything goes awry, leading to this hilarious, outlandish night.
Logan:
The Polar Express: My Dad’s favorite Christmas movie, growing up I never understood why, but within the past couple of years, I finally gave it a shot. And boy oh boy do I now see why he loves it. This movie tells a great story, gets you in the Christmas spirit, has an iconic soundtrack, voice actors and a great message. I mentioned in What We’re Listening To, but “Believe” is my favorite Christmas song, and it originated in this movie. Tom Hanks is also one of my favorite actors out there, his role as the train conductor perfectly fits his personality. And above all else, this movie encourages people who don’t believe in the magic of Christmas to continue to believe. Not only that, but to believe in friendships, and what seems impossible.

Pee-Wee’s Christmas Special: As a kid, I absolutely loved Pee-Wee’s Christmas Special, and I don’t think I can remember a year where I haven’t watched it for Christmas. The fun storylines along with a few special guests including Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Cher and Little Richard definitely grab my attention every year. My dad and I have also made it a new tradition to make this our first Christmas movie to watch to kick off the month of December.
Isabella:
Home Alone: If you want a funny Christmas movie to watch over Christmas break, whether it’s with family, friends or even just by yourself, then the movie Home Alone might be the movie for you to watch as we get closer to the holiday season. Home Alone stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, the movie’s main character, and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the movie’s two main antagonists. The plot follows Kevin’s family going on a vacation for the Christmas holidays, but as the family is on their way, the family forgets to take Kevin along with them therefore leaving him home alone. As Kevin is home by himself two burglars attempt to break into Kevin’s home while his family is away on vacation. A scene I think is one of the movie’s iconic scenes is when Kevin’s family is on the airplane without him and Kevin’s mom remembers she accidentally left Kevin home alone. She screams Kevin’s name, realizing she forgot him at the house.
Macey:
Christmas With the Kranks: Don’t be fooled by the iffy book this movie is based on, Christmas With the Kranks is a humorous, possibly even relatable film starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis as parents trying to skip Christmas after their daughter joins the Peace Corps. Naturally, things aren’t smooth sailing thanks to their neighbors and a rather big wrench in their plan, but laughs abound (for everyone else) and the family experiences some really heartfelt moments, too. It’s the perfect dash of Christmas cheer! The reason I love it so much is my own parents and I can identify ourselves with the characters, and it’s a staple in our Christmas movie list because of that!
Jack:
A Muppet Family Christmas
Another film that isn’t a full-length movie, A Muppet Family Christmas is the pinnacle of nostalgia for me. The Muppet gang travels to Fozzie Bear’s mother’s house to visit for Christmas, but she’s preparing to go on a trip to Malibu. She rented her house out to Doc and Sprocket who wanted a quiet Christmas, but unfortunately for them, chaos ensues.
Felix:
A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter: If you are looking for a laugh this holiday season, then look no further than the new Netflix special with Sabrina Carpenter. The program is filled with great entertainment from musical performances to hilarious skits. You also have to expect the unexpected as she brings out multiple surprise guests in different parts. There is only one thing people need to watch this Christmas and it is the hottest special during this chilly season.
Ceyonna:
The Santa Clause: Have you ever wondered what would happen if something happened to Santa Claus? If so, watch this movie. Scott Calvin, played by Tim Allen, works in the toy industry and rarely has time for the holidays. However, this particular Christmas Scott is spending with his son, Charlie. Their holiday could have had a better start, but at the end of the night, things change when Santa is caught landing on Scott’s roof. This is where Scott is introduced to Santa Claus and The Santa Clause. After that the rest is history.
