The “Puppy Bowl” is the most well known puppy adoption event during Super Bowl season. Adoptable pups play on the field, some pups win awards, and they have a kitty halftime show which parodies the Super Bowl halftime show.
Sounds adorable, right? What if I told you there were other spin offs of “Puppy Bowl?”
The “Dog Bowl” was similar to “Puppy Bowl” except it focused on senior dogs ranging from “2 to 15 years older.” The dogs were more calm than the puppies and the mission was for these dogs to find a forever home.
However, this series didn’t last very long. I remember only seeing it for one season. It wasn’t as exciting as the “Puppy Bowl” but these dogs deserve a home too.
The “Kitten Bowl” ran on Hallmark from 2014 to 2022. However, the event was unfortunately canceled afterwards and moved to the Great American Family Channel and was changed to the Great American Rescue which featured more pets. The “Cat Bowl” featured grown cats and met the same fate.
The Great American Family runs most older TV shows and one modern sitcom. Though during Super Bowl time they have the “Great American Rescue Bowl.”
Even though it’s a cable channel it doesn’t seem to be that well known.
The other adoption bowls should be brought back because the “Puppy Bowl” is still a success and the “Kitten Bowl” had success running for eight years. The “Dog Bowl” and “Cat Bowl” had the same potential and all four were events for adoption.
I think these all could have been successful if they weren’t canceled too early. I also feel that giving each adoptable pet their own event would be more beneficial than grouping them all together because with the grouping the crew running the “Great American Rescue Bowl” has to shift the focus among the pets equally to ensure each group gets proper airtime, and that could be difficult.
